No. 562/Bill No. 98 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 98, reports as follows: <br />Bill No. 98, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 562 dated <br />October 13, 2023, amends Ordinance No. 23-50, as amended, the operating budget for the County of <br />Hawaii for fiscal year ending June 30, 2024. <br />This bill increases revenues in the State Grants — Kua Bay account ($198,220) and West Hawaii Ocean <br />Safety account ($245,194); and appropriates the same to the Kua Bay — State Salaries and Wages <br />account and the Hapuna Beach — State Salaries and Wages account, for a total appropriation of $778,220 <br />(Kua Bay) and $1,264,297 (Hapuna Beach). These additional funds would be used for costs associated <br />with ocean safety at Kua Bay and Hapuna Beach. <br />Committee Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz invited Assistant Fire Chief Darwin Okinaka to <br />provide some background on this measure.
