Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
Re: Resolution for Harold U. Jim v. County of Hawaii, et al.
Civil No. 99-00196 DAE
We respectfully request that the following resolution be assigned to the appropriate
Council committee, if necessary, so that it may be taken up at the next regularly scheduled
County Council meeting:
1. Resolution authorizing the Corporation Counsel, and his authorized
representatives, to enter into agreements with the individually named defendants,
who are, or who have been, employees of the County of Hawaii, to represent them
in the civil action entitled Harold U. Jim v. County of Hawaii, et al., Civil No. 99-
00196 DAE.
We further request that the resolution be waived past committee meetings as the subject
matter of this resolution was discussed with the County Council in executive session at the
County Council meeting of February 16, 2000.

RE: Resolution for Harold U. Jim v. County of Hawaii, et al. Civil No. 99-00196 DAE
Pursuant to Section l (e) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is
denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
