Aloha!
I am writing in support of the transfer of Old Coast Guard Road as proposed in resolution 328-23.
Old Coast Guard Road is used by the public daily to fish, hike, surf,walk dogs, participate in the whale count, practice
Hawaiian sea burials,visit King Kamehameha l's birthsite and the Mo'okini Heiau, and watch the sunset. It is one of a
handful of non-gated access points to the ocean in North Kohala.As a surplus property, it will be auctioned off should
the County refuse to accept the transfer of the road which could be detrimental to the North Kohala Community
Development Plan as well as the Public Access, Open Spaces, and Natural Resources Preservation
Program's preservation initiative.
I encourage you to support the transfer of Old Coast Guard Road. It is a vital access point for the community and should
be under the County's jurisdiction. Please help preserve this road for future generations.
