COUNTY OF HAWAI I STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 364 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO NA MAMO HA'AHEO <br /> TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATING TO AN ART SERIES USING HAWAIIAN <br /> PLANTS. <br /> WHEREAS,Na Mamo Ha'aheo is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes <br /> culture and traditions of the various ethnicities in Hawai`i, with an emphasis on perpetuating <br /> Hawaiian culture through its programs that educate participants in the arts of lei-making and pa`u <br /> horseback riding; and <br /> WHEREAS,Na Mamo Ha'aheo is partnering with local lei-makers to conduct a series of <br /> lei-making classes, "An Art Series Using Hawaiian Plants", which will be scheduled once a <br /> month starting from November 2023 through February 2024; and <br /> WHEREAS, these classes perpetuate the Hawaiian culture through lei-making and <br /> creating art using flora and fauna found on Hawai`i Island; and <br /> WHEREAS, the participants will gain knowledge about the entire lei-making process, <br /> thereby contributing to the preservation and continuation of lei-making traditions; and <br /> WHEREAS,Na Mamo Ha'aheo is requesting funds to assist with expenses for facility <br /> rentals, permit fees, food and refreshments, lei-making practitioners, and lei-making supplies and <br /> materials; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that provide <br /> programs, projects, or activities in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Na Mamo Ha'aheo to assist with expenses relating to An Art <br /> Series Using Hawaiian Plants. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
