Your Committee on Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions, to which was referred Resolution
No. 338-23, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 338-23, transmitted by Council Member Heather L. Kimball, via Communication
No. 570, dated October 25, 2023, awards a Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources
Preservation Maintenance Fund Stewardship Grant to P6haha I Ka Lani.
This resolution approves a grant of $56,100 to P6haha I Ka Lani, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization,
to continue providing land stewardship and cultural education for the Waipi`o Valley Lookout in the
Hamakua District, (Tax Map Key: 4-8-004:006), pursuant to Section 10-16(h) of the Hawaii County
Charter.
Council Member Kimball gave a brief overview of the nonprofit's work and asked council members
for their support.
Pursuant to Sections 10-16(g) and (h) of the Hawaii County Charter, maintenance fund stewardship
grants may be awarded by resolution for the public safety maintenance and preservation of properties
acquired through the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Fund.
Your Committee on Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions is in accord with the purpose and intent
of Resolution No. 338-23, and recommends its adoption.
