REQUEST: The Department of Public Works-Engineering Division is requesting an amendment to Ordinance 23-51, as amended, by adding appropriation to the Capital Budget for the following project: DPW- Puna Makai Alternate Route Study -County $500,000 DPW- Puna Makai Alternate Route Study- State $1,000,000 B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE.ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): The State of Hawaii has approved the delegation of$1,500,000 ($1,000,000 in State funds and $500,000 in County funds) for the Puna Makai Alternate Route Study. As required by the State to release their portion of $1,000,000, the County of Hawaii must contribute $500,000 in matching funds. Funds will be used for plans and design to conduct site surveys on Hawaii Island to identify the most suitable location for an alternate route in Puna below Highway 130.
