Aloha Council Chair Kimball and Council Members:
I am pleased to nominate Mr. Jim Beets of District 1, to the Environmental Management
Commission.
Jim earned his PhD from the University of Georgia in 1990 and has been working at the
University of Hawaii Hilo for the past 20 years. With.over 45 years of experience as both an
employee and citizen,.Jim has been involved in reviewing Environmental Assessments (EA) and
Environmental Impact Statements (EIS).
Jim actively participates in state and national conservation groups. If confirmed, he will serve a
term ending December 31, 2028.
