A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO NO NĀ ‘OPIO TO ASSIST
NĀ HOA O PUNA SOCCER WITH ITS NĀ HOA CUP TOURNAMENT.
WHEREAS, No Nā ‘Opio is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that strives to support the children of East Hawai‘i by offering opportunities to engage in physical, spiritual, and cognitive
development through participation in recreational and cultural practices; and
WHEREAS, No Nā ‘Opio is partnering with Nā Hoa O Puna Soccer to host its annual Nā Hoa Cup, an island-wide soccer tournament for children ages 6 to 14, which will be held on December
2-3, 2023, at the Buddy Perry Soccer Field at Herbert Shipman Park in Kea‘au, Hawai‘i; and
WHEREAS, the Nā Hoa Cup tournament is a drug-free and alcohol-free community event that encourages physical health, well-being, teamwork, and leadership opportunities for children while
engaging adult volunteers as coaches and support staff; and
WHEREAS, No Nā ‘Opio is requesting funding assistance to purchase new goals, nets, and uniforms for the Nā Hoa Cup tournament; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug-free and alcohol-free activities and events that enrich the lives of community members and enhance the well-being of Hawai‘i Island
residents; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to No Nā ‘Opio to assist Nā Hoa O Puna Soccer with its Nā Hoa Cup tournament.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
