N,.;;' . <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI`I �'= '���•- STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 379 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAI`I ISLAND <br /> VETERANS MEMORIAL INC. TO DISPLAY THE WALL THAT HEALS. <br /> WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island Veterans Memorial Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization with a mission to develop community projects, programs, and activities that will <br /> improve the lives of all veterans and their families living on Hawai`i Island; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island Veterans Memorial Inc. is working in collaboration with a <br /> community-based committee formed by the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Hawai`i <br /> County Veterans Advisory Committee to organize, plan, and host The Wall That Heals; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Wall That Heals is a mobile, three-quarter-scale replica of the <br /> Vietnam Veterans Memorial located in Washington, D.C., that provides veterans and their <br /> families a convenient and accessible opportunity to honor over 58,000 Americans who gave <br /> their lives in service in the Vietnam conflict; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Wall That Heals will be on display in Hilo at Mo`oheau Park on <br /> January 22-28, 2024; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii Island Veterans Memorial Inc. is requesting funds to assist with <br /> expenses for electrical generators and a site fee to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund to <br /> display The Wall That Heals; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Department of Parks and Recreation supports this event as it is in <br /> keeping with the goals and objectives of the department to provide diversified programs that <br /> address the needs and interest of the respective communities in a safe environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hawai`i Island Veterans Memorial Inc. to display The <br /> Wall That Heals. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
