Re: Operating Budget
The County of Hawai`i has been awarded $13,000,000 from the United States
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)through its Community Project
Funding. The purpose of this grant is to support the renovation cost of the Hilo Memorial
Hospital.
Enclosed is a resolution to enter into an agreement to accept these funds. Also enclosed
is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this
$13,000,000.

A. REQUEST:
The Office of Housing and Community Development(OHCD) is requesting to amend Ordinance 23-50 by
appropriating the following:
REVENUE:
Community Project Funding Hilo Memorial Hospital Renovations 152.3310.xx $13,000,000.00
EXPENDITURE:
Community Project Funding Hilo Memorial Hospital Renovations 152.461.5466.xx $13,000,000.00
Please also submit a resolution to authorize the Mayor to execute and submit all required agreements, and
other related documents for a multi-year agreement with the US Department of Housing and Urban
Development.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The County of Hawai'i received written notification that its request for federal grant funding from the US
Department of Housing and Urban Development from its Community Project Funding has been approved.
The Community Project funding will be used for renovations to include, but not be limited to roof
replacement, hazardous material mitigations, and to support other assessment, design, repairs, and
renovation costs of the Hilo Memorial Hospital located at 34 Rainbow Drive in South Hilo.
The ordinance will set up the proper accounts to receive and expend the grant funds.
