REQUEST: Requesting a Resolution for the acceptance of a donation of 2 bottles of BioAstin per uniformed Firefighter employed by the Hawaii Fire Department from Cyanotech B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): Due to the physical nature of the job of a Firefighter, and the importance of staying physically fit and healthy, in an effort to help to support that need, Cyanotech (makers of BioAstin) has graciously offered to donate 2 bottles of BioAstin to each career uniformed Firefighter. They agreed to donate two (2) bottles of 60 count BioAstin 4MG vegan formula bottles per working uniformed firefighter, or a total of approximately seven hundred and ninety (790) bottles. The estimated retail value is $18,208.08. The estimated retail value may increase or decrease over time. This is a one time offer, however the MOU with Cyanotech is good for 1 calendar year, and within or by the end of that time frame, Cyanotech will determine if they would like to add to the offer or end it. Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of Hawai`i, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review.
