COUNTY OF HAWAII ( 41'H STATE OF HAWAII <br /> 4p OF�H►.M . <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 387 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING THE SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE <br /> FUTURE TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE FRIENDLY FRIDGE <br /> RESCUE FOOD PROGRAM IN KAMUELA. <br /> WHEREAS, the Friendly Fridge Rescue Food program provides pre-packaged meals for <br /> community events and for individuals experiencing food insecurity via a free community <br /> refrigerator located in Kamuela and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, Friends of the Future, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is working in <br /> partnership with the organizers of the Friendly Fridge Rescue Food program to expand <br /> community capacity through its food donation and distribution service; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Friendly Fridge Food Rescue program serves approximately 400 people <br /> each month; and <br /> WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is requesting funding assistance to help cover <br /> necessary purchases of perishable and non-perishable food items and fuel for the pick-up and <br /> delivery of such items; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports this program as it is in keeping <br /> with the goals and objectives of the department to support public programs that improve the <br /> well-being of Hawai`i County residents in a safe, drug- and alcohol-free environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Friends of the Future to assist with expenses related to the <br /> Friendly Fridge Rescue Food program in Kamuela. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
