Although I was one of the many baseball players coached by Mr. Correa, my proximity of growing up near Hoolulu Park
gave me a unique access to his outstanding mentoring and coaching skills. Throughout the 60s and early 70s Mr. Correa
utilized my frequent presence at the ballpark by having me serve as a ball boy, a bat boy, equipment
manager, statistician, and practice pitcher alongside with being a player. Without this special interest taken in me I
could have easily fell into far worse situations while growing up in Waiakea Houselots. I'm grateful to Mr. Correa and
others in shaping me as a productive citizen. It is this special man and the special place associated with him that I will
never forget.
