To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Akinyele, and I have been an employee at Millie's Deli & Snack Shop, a cherished local
deli and snack shop, for 2 years. This establishment is not just a place of employment for me; it is a
cornerstone of our community, a place where locals and visitors alike gather to share stories, laughter,
and enjoy home-style delicacies.
For many in Hilo, Millie's is much more than a snack shop. It's a symbol of our town's character and a
hub for community engagement. We regularly host local events, support other small businesses by
sourcing locally, and provide a cozy, welcoming space that newer, impersonal businesses cannot
match.
The proposed development of a car lot on this land poses a significant threat not only to our shop
but to the very fabric of our community. The replacement of our beloved deli with a car lot would not
only be an aesthetic downgrade but a step back in our town's commitment to maintaining a vibrant,
locally-focused economy.
Throughout the years, Millie's has been a steady source of employment and has contributed
