The goal is for a simple resurfacing of what is already there. Similar to the Upolu Airport Road.
Not a two-lane Highway with sidewalks. =:
Please consider resurfacing this road for the community instead of letting it continue to deteriorate. --
It also provides access to the Kamehamehe birth site,as well as the Mi'okini Heiau.
These Historical Monuments are cared for, and maintained by workers on a regular basis, using the old Coast Guard Road as
access.
At one point the county mowed the brush on the side of this road, clearing the brush for the local school buses and vans prior
to their field trips. Which I believe is no longer done,after the dispute of who is actually responsible for the maintenance but
yet they still regularly use the road with their trucks and trailers to haul the lawnmower equipment needed to maintain the
heiau's.
Paying our taxes for the schools and the school buses that are at the end of the day being damaged by the unmaintained road.
As a disabled person and not being able to comfortably drive this road and not having access is very disheartening.
Please add to the wonderful experience of Historical North Kohala instead of letting it deteriorate.
