I am writing from my current residence in Kalaoa(Palisades)and still, I live, in North Kona, lucky me. I have many beautiful memories there at Honokohau, swimming and playing in the ocean with my cousins, jumping off Apo's scant wood bridge(to his humble home over the water), catching crab with my Uncles, following along on the shore while they pick opihi, hunting for easter eggs in April, gathering pipipi at night. Please, I am writing to you today to urge you to reject the funds requested by the mayor to hire outside counsel to fight Hui Malama Honokohau v. County of Hawaii and instead approve the restricted use of the funds for the purpose of settling with them, and improving the wastewater treatment plant's ability to handle treated sewage in a way that does not harm our home waters. They're asking us to do better. Please, let's work together, with them,to find a solution. We can do it, and it's important that we try. Sincerely, Lehua Alapai Lehua Alapai, Ho'ola Ka Makana'a, Programs Director Ka'upulehu Dryland Forest Iehuaalapai@ gmail.com R' . c- -t -. >,,., try C- -- • • Comm. o ' fi •" Ref.
