I'm hoping that the Hawaii County Council does not vote for retro behavior on the question of county waste
water/sewage treatment. On one hand, the county is requiring individual people and businesses to move from
cesspool treatment of their waste sewage, to very expensive septic tank treatment in basalt rock. Yet the county
seem to not want to move forward on better treatment of county waste water.
The Maui retro waste water behavior is a good, bad example of not going forward on their more than 10
years of resistance to their Clean Water Act fulfillment of their waste water cleanup.
Maui's retro behavior on the last three Maui burns shows their failure to deal with environmental fire
problems. The same behavior Maui has shown on trying to block their waste water cleanup.
Is Hawaii County Council going to waste more money and time on helping to further destroy the near shore
ocean environment?
The lack of going forward to help the ocean environment will end up with more near shore dead zones. I
have photograph Hawaii near shore ocean life in 1970, comparing the same shore zone is now very depressing. It
is not going to get better if the waste water problem is not improved. More dead zones will develop,with less
tourists wanting to see the beach dead zones.
About 4 years ago, I saw on the satellite surf image what I thought was a 'fish ball' moving along the coast
from Kona north, with the current. I swam out to the `ball' at about Kukio Point. It was not a fish ball. It was
sewage dump from Kona. Clean up your county act, retro is already too late.
