Subject: Bill 104 Testimony
Aloha Financial Committee and County Council Members,
Thank you for the opportunity to submit testimony regarding Bill 104. In general, I support the idea of this bill, bull
strongly believe the long term rental class should be for 6 months minimum and not 10 months. Introducing a different
term will be confusing and difficult to track. Why not be consistent with all other current county legislation and have
long term rental be defined as 6 months minimum?
When someone asks me what qualifies as a long term rental, today I would have to say:
- For not requiring STVR permit(today),greater than 30 days
- For not paying TAT tax, greater than 6 months
- For proposed long term tax rate, greater than 10 months
- If you rent to medical professionals and other special types of tenants, all this does not apply and there are
different rules...
As a resident, landlord, and someone involved in real estate, I highly recommend keeping the long term rental
definition consistent at 6 months. This will make it easier to enforce and easier for owners and landlords to follow
and understand. Mahalo for your consideration.
Sincerely,
April Nelson
