Dear Honorable Representatives,
Please support Bill 109. As you know, this bill amends the County Charter section relating to appointments and
terms of county department heads to ensure that
1) Department deputies, assistants, and private secretaries may holdover until replaced by a director.
2) Appointments for department heads are submitted to the County Council for confirmation within 30
days of the start of any mayoral term and within 60 days of the occurrence of any vacancy,
3) Department heads take office only after being confirmed by the Council.
