Aloha all: y' `
Please note that my testimony from committee level still stands. I am still VERY MUCH in favor of the flayibi1 ban for
vapes and I sent in via snail mail a packet of testimonials that my students wrote on their own accord. I wish I could be
present for your Council meeting when you discuss this legislation. It's just happening right in the middle of our school
day, and I need to focus on our planned assemblies.
But thank you for bringing up this matter and having the courage to vote for this. It's so important for our keiki's
future. As I mentioned to you, I have traditionally been a laissez faire capitalist. But what is really unfortunate is that
businesses are now serving as predators to our youth and they are marketing these products that are so detrimental to
our children's health and they are turning our youth into fiends. I see it every single day. It's happening at every single
one of our schools in the islands, around the state and nationwide— I just went to two conferences on the continent
and heard from other educators that they too are contending with this issue.
It's truly pathetic what is going on with flavored vapes, and we as a community must treat this like the epidemic that it.
is. I would encourage our South Hawaii councilwoman to change her vote, and I will be interested to see where Cindy
Evans stands after making the menthal point but being out of the room when the vote was cast at committee
definitely. But I definitely appreciate Rebecca Villegas noting that California took a stand against menthal. We need to
take a stand, folks. Please, none of you leave the room when it comes time to take a vote. VOTE IN FAVOR OF THE
FLAVOR BAN and help us in education, and in general raising kids,to be able to keep this nasty stuff away from them, so
they can go on to be productive citizens of our amazing state. Please, this is about the youth of Hawaii who are
somehow getting a hold of what looks like toys to them. Please help us help these kids keep poison away from them.
