Re: Operating Budget
In the current Budget Ordinance 23-50, $545,760 is appropriated in the Police
Department's NICS Act Record Improvement Program account. Additional federally
derived funds in the amount of$169,728 are being provided by the State of Hawai`i
Department of the Attorney General, Hawai`i Criminal Justice Data Center to convert
paper files to electronic formats and to fund overtime hours for staff to scan and review
documents for electronic conversion.
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating these
additional funds into the Hawai`i County Police's NICS Act Record Improvement
Program account, bringing the total appropriation to $715,488.

This is a request to appropriate an additional $1691,728.00 for the Hawaii Police Department NICS Act
Record Improvement Program (NARIP) grant to convert paper files to electronic formats and fund overtime
hours for staff to scan and review documents for electronic conversion. The account number is

Funding from this agreement will enhance the scanning of the Police Department Records division.
