JMSY OF N,� <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI`I -•� �_" '/ •> STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> qTE OF•H►'� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 396 2'4 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAWAI`I <br /> ISLAND VETERANS MEMORIAL INC. TO DISPLAY THE WALL THAT HEALS. <br /> WHEREAS, The Wall That Heals is a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam War <br /> Memorial in Washington DC; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Wall That Heals and Mobile Education Center spreads the healing <br /> legacy of the Wall to remember the fallen, honor those that serve, and teach the value <br /> of freedom; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Island Veterans Memorial, Inc. (HIVM) is a 501(c)(3) <br /> nonprofit organization that provides community projects, programs, and activities to improve the <br /> lives of all veterans and their families living on Hawai`i Island; and <br /> WHEREAS, HIVM is working in collaboration with a community-based committee <br /> formed by the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Hawaii County Veterans Advisory <br /> Committee to organize the arrival, and host the display of The Wall That Heals in Hilo at <br /> Mo`oheau Park on January 22-28, 2024; and <br /> WHEREAS, HIVM is requesting funds to assist with expenses for a site fee to the <br /> Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund and electrical generators to display The Wall That Heals; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals and objectives of the Department of Parks and Recreation <br /> is to provide diversified programs that address the needs and interest of the respective <br /> communities in a safe environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks <br /> and Recreation to provide a grant to the Hawaii Island Veterans Memorial Inc. to display The <br /> Wall That Heals. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
