Aloha Council Chair Kimball and Council Members:
I am pleased to nominate Matthias Kusch to the At Large, South Hilo Judicial District seat for
the Windward Planning Commission.
Matthias has been living in Hawaii for over 30 years and worked with the County of Hawaii Fire
Department from 1995 until 2020. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and
Marketing from California State University in Chico and his United States Coast Guard
commercial Maritime certificate and license from the Pacific Maritime Academy. Currently,
Matthias is self-employed with Smart Growth, LLC and Marine Source, LLC.
Throughout the years, Matthias has always been an active and engaged community member,
dedicating countless hours to volunteering for numerous organizations and boards. If confirmed,
he will serve a term ending December 31, 2028.
