A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF “GRATIS SHIPMENT” TO THE COUNTY OF HAWAIʻI FIRE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, Young Brothers is donating “gratis shipment”, valued at approximately $16,485.69 to the County of Hawai‘i Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, this City and County of Honolulu Emergency Medical Services Department has donated four (4) ambulances, and the Honolulu Fire Department has donated three (3) fire engines to
the County of Hawai‘i and Young Brothers has assisted in the transport of these vehicles by reducing the cost of shipping fees from $20,966.21 to $4,480.52; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaiʻi County Charter, provides that the council, on behalf of the county, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities, or other personal
property or of real estate or any interest in real estate; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I, in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaiʻi County Charter, the County of Hawaiʻi, accepts this donation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be sent to Jay Ana, President, Young Brothers, 1331 N. Nimitz Hwy., Piers 39/40, Honolulu, HI 96817,
acknowledging this generous donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Fire Department, the Department of Finance, and the Office of Management.
