RESOLUTION NO. 412 24
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO LA`I`OPUA 2020 FOR
EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS AFTERSCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, La`i`opua 2020 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to
provide social, recreational, vocational, educational, and cultural opportunities to the
communities of Kona; and
WHEREAS, La`i`opua 2020's Afterschool Enrichment Program located at Konawaena
Elementary School has been a cornerstone in supporting the educational and holistic
development of our local youth for the past six years; and
WHEREAS, La`i`opua 2020 is requesting funds to assist in covering unforseen utility
fees and for purchasing snacks for the youth participating in the Afterschool Enrichment
Program; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Research and Development is to
support a high quality of life for Hawai`i island residents to help balance Hawai`i Island's
economic, social, community, and environmental well-being; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of
Research and Development to provide a grant to La`i`opua 2020 to support its Afterschool
Enrichement Program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
