A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAI‘I ISLAND ADULT
CARE FOR TUITION ASSISTANCE FOR ITS HILO ADULT DAY PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, Hawai‘i Island Adult Care (HIAC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been providing services for kūpuna, challenged adults, families, and caregivers since 1976; and
WHEREAS, HIAC provides adult day care six days a week, and most holidays, and is licensed to serve up to 105 participants each day in a safe and social space to meet the diverse needs
of the individuals and their families; and
WHEREAS, the services that HIAC provides allows kūpuna and challenged adults to continue living at home rather than an institution, providing assurance to family members that their loved
ones are well cared for in a nurturing environment during the day; and
WHEREAS, HIAC is requesting funding to provide tuition assistance for participants in its Hilo Adult Day Program who have demonstrated a financial need; and
WHEREAS, HIAC has partnered with the Office of Aging in the past and upholds its mission to optimize the health, safety, and independence of Hawai‘i’s older adults; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Office of Aging to provide a grant to HIAC for
tuition assistance for its Hilo Adult Day Program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
