I believe that this bill is of utmost importance for the health and well-being of our community, particularly our keiki. Flavored tobacco products have been shown to be especially appealing to young people, leading to an increase in youth tobacco use.The enticing flavors mask the harsh taste of tobacco, making it easier for young individuals to initiate and become addicted to smoking. By banning the sale of flavored tobacco products, we can deter our youth from starting to smoke and protect them from the harmful effects of tobacco. Furthermore, the passage of Bill 102 will align our county with the rest of the state, as flavored tobacco products have already been banned in several other counties in Hawaii. It is crucial that we maintain consistency across the state to ensure the effectiveness of tobacco control efforts and protect the health of all residents. I urge you to support Bill 102 and make a positive impact on the health and well-being of our community. Let us take a stand against the harmful influence of flavored tobacco products and create a healthier future for our keiki and future generations. Mahalo for your consideration. c, Sincerely, Christina Gaspar < West Hawaii Resident -)—= Fr" Comm. N.. sq) Ref. To: 1 Ref. Date '?AN j, 0 2024
