This includes 12 animal control officers. All NACCA, CEATA trained and 6 of the officers fully badged. Our department has extensive costs associated with this because we are paying top price for basic services including spays and neuters, medical VETERINARIAN evaluation and assessment, and euthanasia costs. Without a staff veterinarian we do not have access to drugs necessary to treat animals in an emergency and in a fiscally responsible manor. Our department is currently writing a contract for a full-time veterinarian and would like further support for a full-time civil servant position for a veterinarian. After 4:30pm Police non-emergency dispatch take on calls. We get an average of 50 calls a day. About 9 calls an hour. Those calls are assigned by area and levels of priority based on the caller's description. If a call is missed it goes to voicemail and is checked 3-4 times an hour. After the second person is trained, we will have 7 day a week coverage. We will need to get better phones, equipment, and programs for dispatching and case management. DEPARTMENT We currently have requests in for 6 used V E H C L E S trucks, 2 new trucks, and I SUV for the department. • We have a large mobile unit out for bid currently to be able to service large areas from one base location. The back has a spay clinic and caging to process dogs. About 60% of animals taken into our facility are either returned to their owners or are adopted out through our partner organization About 40% are humanely euthanized due to behavioral issues, medical problems, or due to an owner's request during surrendering. We bring in a total of about 200 animals average a month and some months that can exceed double the available space for our facilities. SHELTER Without a management methods for our SPACE facilities, we would quickly exceed the available space.
