Subject: TAR STVR oppostion land use please accept my testimony Kimberly Bearden ,
r a CD
Hello,
I am a host/owner of three STVR rental homes in Volcano Village; these licenses are current ana to :7-
County standards for holding the STVR licensing. I have worked very hard to build my small business and
take so much pride in what I do and how what I do benefits my neighbors and community.
My properties are stunningly maintained. I own my personal home in Volcano Village as well, but I am in
fear that I will need to sell and move to an area where I can find another type of work that has more
security.
I became a small business owner so that my hard work could be my own reward and allow me to take
control of my own destiny. My livelihood is being threatened. My future is in the hands of just a few and I
have little control. My income after all of the taxes, insurance and maintenance cost is a low net
earnings. So i dont have the means to easily find another livelihood. I'm 54 years old,We as hosts work
very hard for our living. I dont have another option ,this is all I have.
This TAR STVR land use BILL is dangerous and I strongly oppose it! Please give this much more thought
with facts and data reports.
I would like to suggest a study be conducted of the impact of this proposal on my small tiny
mountain town of Volcano Village. This would devastate us here in Volcano as we might not be allowed
to have/operate vacation rentals due to the zoning. Properties would decrease in value , people would
lose jobs. not just the Vacation hosts but most other types of business would dry up quickly. Vacation
rental properties are needed for visitors to the National park and a Resort development would be far
more negative than any result of a vacation cottage set up.
I feel so threatened and afraid. My government officials' suggestion of these changes seems to be blind
and unconcerned with the effects for so many people. So much more consideration is needed for this bill
especially for the delicate balance of life in Volcano
Please vote No on this Bill 121
