Dear Council:
As a I am a frequent visitor to your island, I'm urging you to reject proposals that limit home sharing platforms.
I am a responsible single who rejoices in and respects the opportunity to stay in accommodations that are intimate, private
home-style enjoyment of the Big Isle,and that are quite frankly a vast improvement over the limitations of a hotel stay.
It has been my privilege to rent the Big Island experience through many wonderful hosts who are are responsible,who take
extra care to ensure their guests safe and who intern take care of and are respectful of the communities where we are staying,
hosts who encourage us to frequent local businesses and support this economy. By living in a home situation we see this as
our home and want to protect and care for it as if it were our home and our Island for life. (A fantasy I know but we live it, if
only for a week each year.)
Therefore it is disheartening to learn that County Supervisors are considering severe limits on short-term rentals,which benefit
so many residents and local businesses that millions of us visitors directly support. Further it would spell the end our ability to
visit and integrate into Hawai'i County's economy.
Short-term rentals are an essential part of your economy.Your visitors help support the livelihood of local workers help provide
economic benefits to the entire community.
Please protect this wonderful alternative for families and singles. Limiting this lodging option will come at the expense of many
associate industries.And that economic hardship will ripple throughout the entire community Thank you in advance for serious Comm. N 4S.
