Subject:Against Bills 121,122,123
Aloha,
I'm a Hawaii Island Resident of 8 years, Hawaii resident of 18 years, home owner and local business owner. I strongly
oppose these non sensical bills that seek to turn a 6 month rental into a "vacation rental ".
It makes zero sense, no one in hawaii considers a 6 month lease to be a vacation renter.A 6 month lease is considered
long term housing for local residents.
Not only am I opposed to these ridiculous bills, I'm offended and angry that the council would even waste any of our
time and money on such a proposal when real Hawaii County Residents have been demanding solutions to actual
problems like these much more pressing issues:
1.We need another jail on island!
HCCC is a human rights violation, overflowing for years and in horrible shape and so judges release criminals all the time,
which creates a public safety hazard and tells criminals they are immune to any punishment which makes crime
worse, build a kona side jail ASAP!
2.We need a mental hospital on island to serve and house the many mentally ill people living on the streets be they are
too disabled to work and find housing for themselves
3. We need a comprehensive Animal Control Agency with a focus on free spay and neuter to bring down the animal
overpopulation crisis of stray dogs and cats S. S
Comm. No b

4.We need actual prosecution of people who harbor dangerous dogs that attack others, prosecution of animal abusers,
and humane animal education
5. If you want to create and build affordable housing then do it or get out of the way and let others do it but trying to
turn 6 month rentals into vacation rentals makes no sense, it will only make the housing situation worse
6.To restrict non residents from owning too many homes here, how about a 1 home limit? Non Hawaii residents can
only own one property here, how about that instead ?That's a much more logical way to cut out competition from
overseas so more locals can buy a home.
I want to know who is behind these TAR bills? Did Heather Kinball come up with this herself or did some lobbyist send it
to her?
Thank you
