Subject: Hawaii County testimony on STR Regulations
Thank you for the opportunity to voice my concerns regarding vacation rentals on Ag land on the Big Island.
Please take into account the fact that because of hosting on Ag land we do this with knowing that we have a unique location
that is in a very secluded area and not in a congested area such as Oahu and Maui or any urban area.
Most Ag land host and live on and depend on these STR.
By hosting on our property it allows us to keep Control of any unwanted noise,who comes and goes,where they park and or if
they get out of hand we are there to handle any unwanted situation.
We host guest from all over the world to enjoy our beautiful island.
We bring in income to multiple businesses and families who work for us who help us with our STR.We employ caretakers,
gardeners, handymen,cleaners&contractors.We offer connections for masseuses, personal chefs.As well as refer guests to
restaurants and businesses that offer local activities.
The closest big hotel is almost 30 miles away,and as we all depend on tourism,we offer a local and a unique experience of the
Big Island.
My family depends on our vacation rentals because farming our land is not profitable or easy being retired and at our age.
We request you to take in to consideration the needed income for all of us small families,trying to survive on the Big Island.
