Subject: New STVR Bill
Aloha,
I'm writing in regards to the new STVR bill being introduced tomorrow. I run a hosted vacation rental on
my primary property.While I recognize the need for some regulation, and as I read the bill I will be able
continue with a permit, I'm shocked at the property tax requirements.This is my primary residence, a
very small portion is used as a vacation rental, but I will loose all of my homeowners exemption and 3%
cap,this will make it very difficult for me to operate.We are a young family just trying to make ends meat
and trying to afford a life here.
It is my understanding not all other counties tax hosted owner occupied operators the same as unhosted
TARS. I request Hawaii County do the same,treat hosted TARS differently.We're local people who live
and work in the community,we're not rich,this isn't a second home.
