My family has owned our land near Puako since the 1930's when my Grandfather came in by boat to build a small house and plant coconuts. We are the last branch of the family to retain any property there. The land taxes are so exorbitant that we cannot afford to keep it without having vacation rentals there. If we couldn't have them,we would in most likelihood have to sell the property. And who could afford to buy them? Not local people;we are the only remaining local family in our immediate area. They would likely be bulldozed and a large, modern structure would be built. Having the vacation rentals allows us to use the property as a family on occasion and to keep family traditions alive. We also employ quite a few people to help maintain and manage the bnbs.We pay TAT taxes and GE taxes so our County and State are benefiting also. Please don't add more restrictions to vacation rentals that are operating legally.Just enforce the laws already in place. Thank you for listening to our concerns, C r' Mike and Katie Lowrey Ct ramcrt Comm. o. 5. 0 Ref. To: Ref. Date 4Ahl 2 2024 1
