Subject: short term vacation rentals.
I am in favor of making it easy for home owners to do vacation rentals in their homes. Our
economy, dependent on tourism, needs this. Those that can afford the high prices of hotels
generally spend their money at the resort whereas those that stay in local homes spend their money
downtown at local businesses.
And those that do rent out their homes hire local businesses to maintain their rentals. A win win for
everyone.
This can only help our economy. The majority of people who rent short term would NOT rent long
term and won't help alleviate the homeless crisis. This needs to be addressed by the state .... not
homeowners.
Therefore, making it easy for Hawaii to attract visitors to help boost our economy can only help
everyone; not just the homeowners.
