As a 16-year-old girl, I am reaching out to the council with a heartfelt plea to consider the zoning.
issues embedded in Bill 121, as it directly affects my family's ability to rent a part of our house to
sustain our lives in Hawaii. Our family has been navigating the challenges of high living costs by
renting out a portion of our home, providing a crucial source of income for essential needs like
education and healthcare.
Bill 121's zoning regulations could hinder our ability to continue this arrangement, putting our
financial stability at risk. The uniqueness of Hawaii's housing landscape should be acknowledged, and
zoning policies need to reflect the diverse ways families cope with the high cost of living.
Living in Hawaii has been a privilege, but it comes with economic hardships. I urge the council to
consider the real-life impact on families like mine. By addressing the zoning concerns in Bill 121, you
have the power to ensure that families can maintain their homes, afford their basic needs, and create
a stable environment for the younger generation like myself. Please, think about the long-term well-
being of families striving to make Hawaii their home.
