Subject: STOP TAR BILL 121 r,,3 G= -< This bill is draconian and will achieve NOTHING but more over reaching regulation and laQkof ' economic opportunity for our local population. Look at what has happened in Oahu with their STVR bills. NOTHING that they claimed the bills would achieve. They did not increase the number of rentals for locals. They did not reduce rent prices for locals. They did not increase the number of homes for sale. In fact the opposite has happened. The housing situation is worse. The regulation allegedly created more demand for hotel rooms...the hotel operators win! As these bills make their way through the courts they will be identified for what they are which is eminent domaine and unconstitutional but it will take years. As we know, tourism is the blood line for our state's economy. Hotel operators should not be the only ones entitled to taking advantage of our tourist destination. The only people who will be able to afford homes will be mainlanders and if they can't rent them due to the regulation, then they can't even provide jobs for locals to clean and maintain the homes, and of course the homes won't be allowed to welcome tourists who spend money all over the island. Stop this economic devastation. Just look at what has happened in Oahu. Don't make the same mistake on Big Island. Jacki Motto Comm. N U S• Ref. To: 1 Ref. Date JAN 2 3 2024
