Subject: My Short-Term Vacation Rental
I have rented out my ohana as a short-term vacation rental for almost 9 years now in Hawaiian Paradise Park on Hawaii
island. I have never had any issues with guests being bothersome to neighbors or myself and family. It has made it
possible for me to earn an income and take care of my household without having to take on a full-time job so that my
family can afford to live in Hawaii, our dream. I pay quarterly all of the nearly 18% of the GE and TA taxes required to
both state and county. I also pay$600 annually to advertise on VRBO and that is increasing to$700 this year. I don't
want to be denied the right to operate my vacation rental on my own property and I don't want to have to pay any
additional registration fees in order to keep that right.
