I am a single person and teacher trying to make ends meet while working in a sparsely populated area of Hawaii. I somehow managed to buy a house and am using one floor as a BnB in order to pay my mortgage. As with many of the houses on the island due to strict coding laws and poor staffing, part of my home has an area in which the permitting process was not completed. Under this law, I would be operating illegally and be subject to a misdemeanor. This not only would make it extremely difficult for me financially to continue living and working with the children on this island, but also contradicts Hawaii revised statute 46-4a. If implementing this bill, please reconsider grandfathering in short term rentals AS IS. Thank you, cJc) Chandra Oshima %Q Comm. N 5• Ref. To: 1 Ref. note AAN 2 3 2024
