I am writing to you as a concerned member of our community and a licensed Realtor with a estgz1 -,-.
interest in the regulation of Transient Accomodation Rentals in our county.
While I appreciate the efforts to establish and refine regulations for TARs, I must express my deep
concern over the unbalanced approach to creating new restrictions of property use with little
emphasis on enforcement of the existing laws.
As we engage in discussions about the implementation of additional regulations, I feel compelled to
highlight the pressing issue of enforcement. It is disheartening to witness the efforts of legitimate
licensed TAR operators who pay a considerable sum in fees to the County while striving to comply
with existing regulations,while unlicensed operators continue to operate with impunity. The
proposed regulations seem to target law-abiding operators, creating an imbalanced approach to the
issue at hand.
I urge you to consider allocating more resources to the fundamental issue of enforcement before
implementing further regulations. Strengthening the enforcement mechanisms will not only level the
playing field for licensed operators but may indeed increase housing supply by pushing unlicensed
TAR operators out of business. Which, as I understand it, is the ultimate goal of these efforts.
In conclusion, I`appreciate your commitment to addressing the challenges within the TAR industry.
However, I strongly believe that a more comprehensive and balanced approach, which includes robust
enforcement measures, is necessary to protect the interests of law-abiding operators and sustain a
healthy and vibrant community. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
