Good Day, " =-
This written testimony is for bill121/tar. 9 :.
I reside in North Kohala district on the Hawaii island .
My husband and I have a short term Airbnb cottage on our property which we reside full time. The income we co11 ct pays for
our taxes, insurance etc.
My husband was a combat Vietnam veteran and I work as a massage therapist and if the short term rentals were
discontinued it would greatly impact our way of life.
We hire outside local help which includes lawn service, handy man help and house cleaners, that income to them would be
impacted as well.
We cannot rent to full time residents at this time as we need to keep the cottage available for our visiting families that live
here part time of the year.
In the past we have rented our cottage on long term basis with an undesirable outcome. The tenants did not respect our
home and the damages we incurred were quite costly.
In conclusion,we feel we pay the Hawaii state and county a substantial%of taxes each year to host our legal dwelling. Our
families who visit would not be able to afford the hotel costs, that is the same for our quests who rent from us .
Family and visitors who stay with us shop locally for groceries and support local restaurants and other businesses as well .That
would be a shame for Hawaii to lose their income too !!
Our cottage never had a complaint from neighbors,we are very respectful and responsible in that regard... I think we should
try to work together to see what might be a fair solution please keep me informed .
Sincerely,
Dawn Reilly:::: much Aloha
