Broker, Realtor Emeritus of Sunrise Properties, LLC..Now in myth 9ba-r,of Hilo Real Estate. = L W ..; I have been handling VACATION RENTALS. LEGAL STVR, NUC's since approx 2003. I have iuch:- experience and take pride in keeping our rentals within all the rules. REGARDING CHANGES PROPOSED. • The definition should remain at 30-31 DAYS. 180 days is unreasonable. We have many times visiting nurses, scientists, etc. and requiring a license for anything LESS than 180 days is not only restrictive on owners rights, but not necessary. ALL EXISTING STVR/NUCS should be grandfathered in. THE COUNTY does have the authority to police all rentals and if there are problems with a rental in breaking noise, occupancy, etc.Rules then the county has the power to shut them down. THE REQUIREMENT that would now make ALL STVR's even in Resort zoned properties renew each year seems like it is NOT necessary. IF a legal STVR in resort zoned area received complaints, the County has the power, as it is,to shut them down. THIS will just create far more work for the planning department and really the changes in my mind are NOT needed or necessary. FEEL FREE to contact me for Feedback or testimony.
