Dear Mr. Yanabu:
I have received many calls from the public in regazds to the green waste program for the
County of Hawaii. Questions have arisen in both Hilo and Kona regarding the transition
from the previous vendors to the current vendor. Recent news articles in regazds to the
green waste program have brought out a lot of questions within the community. The
presence of the previous vendor in Kona on County property has also caused some
confusion as to who is operating the green waste programs for the County. People would
also like to have clarification on environmental concerns that have been published in the
local media.
Please attend the February 1, 2000 Committee on Public Works & Parks to make a
presentation on the status of the current green waste program. Be prepared to give us an
update in regards to the environmental concerns at our current green waste site. This
communication will be agendized for the February 1, 2000 Public Works meeting.
