I am a registered owner of my short-term rental. It is an essential part of my income and would encounter economic hardship without it. 1. The County and State do not offer jobs with growth opportunities to replace this. 2. The proposed new regulations would require an unrealistic amount of time and added expense for me to manage. 3. The bill is unrealistic. 1. The State of Hawaii already has the 4th highest hotel tax in the Country and we are seeing a reduced number of visitors to the State as a result of this. 2. I have been in hospitality for 20-years and the service I provide by offering my ohana as a short-term rental is an affordable option for visitors to the State that puts money into our local businesses. 3. The County does not have the staff to professionally manage the proposed changes and will only create more backlog and difficulties for residents. 1. The County and State would benefit residents by dedicating time to improve education (currently the lowest ranking in the country) and create economic diversity. 2. Local residents would benefit by the Country going after TOURO. There are so many cars illegally parked on the street that 1) Block line of sight and are dangerous 2) Decrease the sidewalk appeal of neighborhoods 4. This proposition is a violation of my property rights by telling me who can and cannot stay here. 1. This will NOT improve long-term rental inventory. I would NOT long-term my property because of the high rate of damage caused my careless residents. 2. The State violated rights during COVID that kept. people on property who took advantage and did NOT pay rent and vandalized property. 3. I will sue to maintain my property rights.
