Subject: Council bill 104 to create a new Long-Term Rental tax class
Aloha,
As the owner of a long-term rental here in Hilo, I'd like to support the creation of a new tax class for long-term rentals.
The difference in tax rates for Homeowner versus Residential means that the home I live in pays%the property taxes
that my rental next door pays.This means my renters, who are long-term residents of Hilo, end up paying much more
property tax(passed on in the rent they pay)than I do. The increased amount they pay makes it that much harder for
them to support their family and stay in Hawaii.
Thank you for considering adding a new tax class that would allow me to charge a lower rent and still meet my expenses.
