Subject: Bill 124 Testimony
Aloha Council Members,
I am writing in opposition to Bill 124. I understand the concern for safety, but every time you add another
building requirement, you make it more expensive to build and thus more unaffordable to live on the
island. As far as I can tell, all the single-wall plantation homes are still standing after multiple
earthquakes and storms. Simplify the building code so housing becomes more affordable, not the other
way around. You can't say that you want to make it more affordable to live here and then just keep adding
rules and requirements.
Mahalo for your time,
Keith Marrack
