Aloha Esteemed Council Members:
I am writing to request the passage of Bill 107 without amendments to secure state and county funding
for the Puna Makai Alternate Route (PMAR) study.
This initiative is crucial for addressing the rapidly growing population in Puna, and the need for new
roadway infrastructure to keep up with this growth.The area is heavily congested at most hours of the
day, requiring twice as much time, energy, and resources to commute to/from Hilo. In the event of an
emergency evacuation, Puna residents would be gridlocked trying to evacuate, as there is only one way
in and one way out for 50,000+ people.
I urge the Council to pass Bill 107 without amendments.
