I am a homesteader and farmer that lives along Railroad Avenue. For the past 5 years I have also served as site manager for the Pana`ewa Hub aka the Pana`ewa Farmers Market. It is also located on Railroad Avenue across from Home Depot. My `ohana and community is directly impacted by the traffic, speeding and congestion that occurs on Railroad Avenue. With already being affected by the vehicles that the transfer facility, big box stores, airport, industrial area and the Keaukaha Military Reserve brings, opening up Railroad Avenue would be detrimental to the health of our community. My testimony can't begin to describe the actual impact that we persistently experience. I OPPOSE BILL 107. We do not need Pahoa traffic routed directly through our Homestead Trust Lands. I do SUPPORT resolution 416-24. Although the resolution is not not binding and enforceable, it clearly documents our communities' opposition to PMAR via homestead lands. We ask that Mayor Roth and the Public Works Director remove parcels under the jurisdiction of the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands from the Puna Makai Alternate Route(PMAR) Study and consider alternative routes mauka of Highway 130.
