Aloha,
I am in support of Bill 107. Puna seriously needs an alternate route for ingress/egress. With the
population explosion that has occurred recently, highway 130 is a trap. Our safety is compromised,
getting to the hospital when needed is a real concern.Just trying to make appointments is a real
challenge,you never know how much extra time is needed to navigate traffic.Then if there is a traffic
accident,the highway can be closed for hours.
An alternate route has been discussed for years, it is now a dire situation.This study needs to move
forward.
Regarding Resolution 416-24, I support adding Puna mauka into the study, but I don't support a blanket
exclusion of Railroad Ave at this point. I believe with the study, it will allow effective discussion of the
pros and cons of all potential solutions.
