Subject: Bill 107 support and comment
There is an urgent need for another route from Hilo to Puna, not only to reduce long wait times in traffic, but also for
emergency services in case the only present route is blocked, either by traffic accident,or lava.
If it is decided to exclude DHHL land from the study,then please allow the study to consider roads that already exist through
DHHL land.A good road would benefit DHHL land and farms by giving much better and safer access.
Railroad Ave will be the least expensive,easiest to build and fastest to build route,so should not be excluded from the study.
It is a straight, level route that will require minimum easement expansion, minimum fill and minimum grading. Also, part of it
is already improved south of Hilo.
